I Continue to Pray About Haiti

Philippians 4:11b-13

11b for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

Another one of my prayers for my Haiti mission trip is that this passage would become ever so clear to me.  Whenever I went on an ASP trip (Appalachia Service Project) I would return with a different view of things.  They were not as important after seeing people with much less.  Rev. Graves says the poverty in Haiti will be exponentially more than I saw in the mountains of Appalachia.

I have not lived in what many of us would call need – most of us have never experienced the need like I will see in Haiti.  My prayer is that I will learn to live with less so I can give more to those in real need!  My prayer is that I will learn – more than ever before – the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

I pray our team realizes – I hope I realize – that we/I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Lord – I continue to pray that You will work in me – through me – and in spite of me to bring about Your glory!
